Money per minute — the fastest route to $1,150
Everything in the shop — three line upgrades and the shotgun — costs $1,150 total. A run takes 30–60 seconds, so the real question is not "what should I buy" (that's settled in the upgrade order guide) but "how much is each minute of fishing worth, and how do I raise that number fastest?"
What a run actually pays
Assume you fill most of the eight-fish chain and shoot competently — not perfectly. Rough per-run earnings by the depth you can reach:
| Your line | Best band you reach | Typical run | With a clean combo |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 m | shallow ($1–3 fish) | $15–30 | $30–45 |
| 50 m | mid ($8–15 fish) | $35–60 | $60–90 |
| 80 m | mid + top of deep | $60–100 | $100–140 |
| 120 m | full swordfish band | $90–150 | $150–220 |
Two things drive that table. Depth multiplies the base value of what you can hook; the combo multiplier multiplies what you keep — eight consecutive hits pay 15× a single fish's value instead of 8×. Missing shots is the single biggest leak in money-per-minute at every stage.
The route, minute by minute
- Runs 1–3 — buy the 50 m line ($50). Two or three shallow runs cover it. Nothing else in the game returns 10× your money this fast.
- Runs 4–8 — buy the 80 m line ($200). Mid-band chains with pufferfish ($15) and mackerel ($8) get you there in four or five runs.
- Runs 9–13 — buy the shotgun ($300). By now missed taps are costing more per run than the gun does. Three pellets and a 70 px blast radius turn "almost" into money.
- Runs 14–20 — buy the 120 m line ($600). With the shotgun converting swordfish reliably, $90–150 runs make the final stretch shorter than it looks.
Call it 15–20 runs, roughly 15–20 minutes of play. Sloppy shooting can double that; disciplined combos can shave a quarter off it.
Where the wheel fits
The Double or Nothing wheel can compress this route — or stretch it. Two rules keep it profitable:
- Spin small pots early. A $20 shallow-run pot spins slowly (the needle speed scales with the bet), so it's cheap practice and a win skips most of a run.
- Never spin a pot that completes your next purchase. $210 in hand with the $200 line unbought is a buy, not a bet. Upgrades permanently raise your money-per-minute; a doubled pot is one-time.
After $1,150
Once everything is maxed, coins stop being a constraint and the game becomes score-chasing: your deepest dive, your best single run, your longest combo. That's also when the wheel changes character — with nothing left to buy, every big pot past $180 spins at the same capped speed, so late-game spins are pure upside for your best-run record. Push your full-depth route and see how high a single cast can go.
